1 month beard

Ultimate 1 Month Beard Care Guide

Here's what to expect with a 1 month beard.

Note: this article is a series in our beard growth stages timeline overview.

Ultimately this entire post can be summed up in four words:

“Put that razor down!”

However, it’s not quite as easy as that. Of course, we can tell you exactly what you already know at this stage - keep applying beard oil and wait for it to grow.

But the real battle is the mindset when growing out a beard and that’s what we are going to discuss today.

First off though, give yourself one big pat the on the freaking back if you’ve got to this stage (if you haven’t and you want to know what’s to come, this is a good guide on what you should expect).

Getting to the first month of bearding is never easy.

Especially around week two to three - where your so called beard is looking rather tame, itches like hell and no doubt you are getting the odd unwanted comment at work or from the family.

So props for powering in through.

Most guys have their timeline for growing out a beard way off. Thinking they will be sporting a full on beard after 3 or 4 weeks of growth, where in actual fact it’s closer to 3 months or 4 months.

Even for guys who have grown out their beards time and time again, it still proves difficult getting through this stage. I know I really struggle with dealing with that itchy beard phase, even with the use of regular beard oil - so great work

But chances are.

(Unless you have some Zeus like beard genetics).

You are still going to be unhappy with how your beard is looking - and that’s completely normal at this stage. The trick is just don’t beat yourself up about it.

To be honest, at this stage.

Your worst enemy is more than likely your bathroom mirror.

You end up checking it daily for progress and obsessing every little hair that falls from your beard and can end up overreacting (at least I know that’s certainly the case for me - a single beard hair on my pillow when I wake up - shock horror!).

But remember, this, just Just chill.

You’ve done the hard work.

All you’ve got to do is maintain a good beard grooming routine (which basically means thoroughly applying and massaging beard oil, pretty much on a daily basis).

But we do get it. The one month beard stage is a tough one, because it is neither here or there and just can look a lot like an absolute mess.

Quite frankly it’s going to look pretty much nothing like the beard you thought it would and that’s completely fine - just accept that you are still growing it out.

You’re going to have all sorts of aspects running through your head:

  • “why do I have patches on my cheeks”
  • “why do the hairs seem to stick out everywhere”
  • “it feels a little wiry and looks a bit scraggly - how do I get a better looking beard?”

Well first off these are completely normal things to happen. All your beard hair is growing at different rates, some are sprinting off whilst others lag behind, but after you’ve headed down to the barber and got it trimmed up evenly - it all looks the same.

Plus, if there are any issues after another month or two of growth, there’s plenty of things you can do to address them.

For instance:

If the hairs just aren’t growing in your cheeks, then that’s mainly down to genetics - there’s no issue though, after you’ve had some good growth - we recommend heading down to your local and trusted beard barber and they will be able to help work with you to get a solid beard style that compliments the rest of your look.

Or if your beard seems rather un-tamely and hairs do actually seem to be sticking out everywhere - you can turn to this, what we like to refer to as our specially blended styling product that also gets called a beard balm pomade - that will provide a stronghold to keep those hairs lying down flat.

If you feel like the beard just isn’t comfortable or sitting right with you. Don’t panic, it’s not going to be like that forever. There’s plenty of things for you to try to help it become more manageable and softer. Regular beard combing and brushing, continued use of beard oil and the moisturiser and so on.

At this point, just acknowledge your beard isn’t going to look quite how you want it.

That’s a given.

But after a while there are certain things you can do to really help improve the situation, once you’ve got a bit more growth (another month or two) that you can do to have a better feeling and looking beard.

A quick easy way to make sure your beard is reaching its potential?

Now as long as you're using beard oil on a regular basis (we pretty much recommend every day to be fair), you’re already well ahead of a lot of other bearded guys out there.

That said, if you want to help better reach your bearded potential - which means basically means a better looking, softer and more stylish beard - then we put together a little bundle that you might like.

A bundle of beardy treats.

It’s specially curated to make to basically cover all your beardy needs (whilst saving you money, compared to if you were to buy everything separately). If that sounds like something you might be interested then we 100% recommend checking it out (it’s already proving very popular with new as well as loyal experienced beardsmen alike).
